KGFC is running a FREE Linesman (Referee's Assistant) course in association with the Hertfordshire Football Association on Thursday 5th August at WGC FC, Herns Lane in Welwyn Garden City. The course will start at 7pm and will teach you all you need to know about the offside rule, flags, throw-ins and more in order for you to be able help your child's team from time to time on match day.

This course is especially valuable to all those parents whose children are moving up to 11-a-side for the first time next season (i.e. the Under 11s), so please make the effort to come along and see what's involved.

Places are limited so if you want to participate then simply drop Paula a note at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

King George FC Walks for CRY
Written by Aaron "Azza" Hemsley
Monday, 19 July 2010 10:44

On the 18th of July a group of players and parents from next seasons U12 Cobras participated in a sponsored walk through London in support of Cardiac Risk in the Young. The walk involved a five mile route along the river Thames, this took the participants past 12 of London's famous land marks and across 7 of the bridges.

The morning began with a start at the pub, although this was only the meeting the place, the walkers then travelled to cock fosters where the tube took us to the Embankment where the walk was to begin. Free snacks and water was given out and everyone was also invited to attend a free warm up session.

Throughout the walk a good time was had by all, even with one or two of the parents constantly trying to get a bus to the finish line, the boys of the Cobras were also extremely well behaved, and great ambassadors to the club. I would like to say thank you very much to the players and the parents of the U12 Cobras who came up to London to take part, I  also hope to see just as many if not more people coming to take part next time, to have a laugh and also to raise some money for a very worthy cause.

Cardiac Risk in the Young Bridges Walk (18th Jul)
Written by Azza

crylogohistoryThe King George Youth Committee is hoping to enter this year Bridges Walk in aid of CRY. This is an annual event which takes place on the 18th July. The walk is in London and is an 8KM route which takes all of the fundraisers past 12 of London most famous Landmark:  These landmarks are County Hall, the Houses of Parliament, the London Eye, Somerset House, St Paul's Cathedral, Royal Festival Hall, Tate Modern, Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, Southwark Cathedral, the Tower of London, City Hall and HMS Belfast.

Last year just over 600 people took part, they managed to raise roughly £51,000!!

King George would like to take as many players, parents, volunteers and of course younger or older brothers and sister up to London to participate in the event.

The event is free to enter for anyone who is 16 years old or under, the registration is £10 per adult who also wishes to enter. You will also receive a free T-Shirt which will have a team name on it "King George FC" and you can also choose to have in memory of someone.

The 12 Landmarks represent the 12 young people who die each week from undiagnosed hearts conditions.
Many of us felt a great loss and sadness when a close friend passed away on the 1st February 2008 from an undiagnosed heart condition, he was only 13!

Surely this is a great course to support and raise as much money for as possible.

The link to register for this event is : http://www.c-r-y.org.uk/bridges_walk_2010.htm
We would hope to get as many people as possible to go to the event, the main transport link would be for a train journey to finsbury park, then a  tube journey directly to the victoria embankment

If anyone is interested in partaking in this event could they please sign up using the link, and also email me @ This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

I hope to see as many people as possible joining in in this event.
